'Deranged' Man Was Hunting Down Jared Kushner, Holding a Metal Pole



Police at Trump International Hotel in New York City. have arrested a man who was in possession of a large, metal pole and looking for President Donald Trump's son-in-law and White House aide, Jared Kushner.

At first, he entered unarmed, but after stirring some trouble he was escorted out of the building by security guards. He later went back, armed with a pole, and tried to break into the hotel kitchen.



Matthew Pilling, the 30-year-old suspect, was initially found trespassing in the hotel on Sunday and security made him leave. He later came back, however, armed and searching for Kushner.

After an attempt to break into the hotel kitchen area, security called the NYPD.

Pilling confessed to his intent to harm Kushner, and he was subsequently arrested, according to a report by TMZ. Officers discovered a note on the suspect that explained he planned to harm Kushner, and jump off the roof of the hotel.

Pilling has been charged with criminal trespass.

Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, were reportedly at their own home in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington D.C. at the time, and Kushner was not harmed.

The 37-year-old is a senior advisor to his father-in-law, President Trump, and is by far the least popular member of the Trump administration. Only 22 percent of Americans hold a favorable opinion of Kushner, who moved to D.C. with his wife and their three children when Trump was elected.


Many accuse the former real estate developer as having no political experience, and that he received his position through blatant nepotism.


Kushner has been at the center of a lot of controversy in Trump's White House. During the first year of Trump's presidency, Kushner and Trump's former White House Chief Strategist, Steve Bannon, went head to head a lot. Bannon was ultimately fired from his position in the president's administration over the conflicts.

West Wing insiders claimed Trump's daughter, Ivanka, who is acting in an unpaid, unofficial role assisting her father, played a role in her father choosing sides between her husband and Bannon.

“There is an asymmetry here. You can’t compare family members to other staffers,” an insider said, according to Vanity Fair. “You aren’t going to fire your son-in-law or your daughter.”

Kushner has also played a key role in the investigation into Trump's campaign team having ties to the Kremlin. According to reports, during the 2016 election, Kushner was one of Trump's staffers who went to meet with an attorney from Russia who claimed she had dirt on Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.

While nothing apparently came of the meeting, or the investigation, it caused a lot of waves during the investigation.

Kushner has, because of these issues, gotten flak from both sides of the political aisle. Liberals have seen him as an opportunist, a former Democrat who jumped ship and switched parties, for h is own personal career aspirations.

Conservatives see Kushner and his wife, Ivanka, as an unwelcomed and inexperienced influences in Trump’s White House who cause more problems than they solve.

No further details about Pilling, or the reasons why he intended to hurt Kushner on his rampage, have been released as of this writing.
