NFL bans players from kneeling on sidelines during National Anthem
ATLANTA (ANN) -- The NFL will fine a team if any of its players kneel on the sideline during the National Anthem, but it will be up to the teams to decide if the individual players themselves should be punished.
The league announced the new policy on Wednesday.
There will also be an option for players to remain in the locker room while the anthem is played.
Previously, there had been no rule that prevented players from protesting.
